History of Farmer \/ farm women(3-4 lines) :<\/strong> A small farmer hailing from Hireroogi has 2 acre of pomegranate which was   affected by Bacterial blight for the last two years. He had approached KVK,Vijayapur for this problem.<\/span><\/p>\n

Technology intervention by TOT centers (½ page) :<\/strong> Pomegranate is an important dryland horticulture crop in Hireroogi village of Indi taluka.. The crop in the village is mainly affected by bacterial blight disease caused by Xanthomonas axanopodis pv punicae. Keeping severity of this disease in view, Special extension programmes for spreading Integrated Bacterial Blight Management technology including group meeting, trainings, timely advise, diagnostic field visits, field days were conducted from KVK, Bijapur from Sept 2014 to Feb 2014. During same period integrated disease management package demonstrations were conducted in famers field in an area of 06 ha land to educate the famers “Learning by Doing Concept”. The technology included field sanitation, spraying of 1 per cent Bordeux mixture before and after pruning, disinfecting the secature, burning the crop debris, dusting with bleaching powder, stem smearing and spraying with streptocycline sulphate + copper oxychloride and Pseudomonas floroscence followed by spraying with micronutrients. The impact of above efforts indicated that the disease incidence of 12.5 per cent and marketable yield of 95.6 q \/ha was recorded in the demonstration plot compared to the farmers practice, where in the disease incidence of 17.0 per cent and yield of 92 q\/ha. In demo plot net profit of Rs. 3,17,700\/- ha was recorded in demonstration plots compared to Rs. 2,66,000 \/ha in check plot.<\/span><\/p>\n

Further the impact of trainings and frontline demonstration was assessed on his knowledge level of bacterial blight management in pomegranate. He had correct knowledge that oily spots appears during cloudy weather or at the time of drizzling, had knowledge on application of Bordeaux mixture 1% before pruning and knowledge on fortnightly sprays of COC with streptocycline and spray of micro nutrients like boron, zinc sulphate, magnesium sulphate and calcium nitrate.<\/span><\/p>\n
