{"id":529,"date":"2020-07-30T15:49:16","date_gmt":"2020-07-30T15:49:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kvkvijayapura.org\/new\/?page_id=529"},"modified":"2021-01-15T10:16:29","modified_gmt":"2021-01-15T10:16:29","slug":"about-kvk-vijayapura","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/kvkvijayapura.org\/new\/about-kvk-vijayapura\/","title":{"rendered":"About KVK Vijayapura"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Welcome to Krishi Vigyan Kendra,\u00a0 Vijayapura<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ICAR Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Vijayapura, a science and knowledge resource centre sponsored by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) was established in the year 2004.\u00a0 The centre is located at RARS,\u00a0 Hitnalli farm, Vijayapura, on Solapur-Bangalore Highway No.50. Which is 10 kms away from Vijayapura city. The mandate of KVK is <strong>Technology Assessment and Demonstration<\/strong> for its <strong>Application<\/strong> and <strong>Capacity Development<\/strong>. To implement the mandate effectively, the following activities are envisaged such as on-farm testing to assess the location specificity of agricultural technologies under various farming systems.\u00a0 frontline demonstrations to establish production potential of technologies on the farmers\u2019 fields, capacity development of farmers and extension personnel to update their knowledge and skills on modern agricultural technologies, work as knowledge and resource centre of agricultural technologies for supporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sector in improving the agricultural economy of the district, providing farm advisories using ICT and other media means on varied subjects of interest to farmers. In addition, \u00a0KVK\u00a0 produces quality technological products (seed, planting material, bio-agents, value added products) and makes it available to farmers, organizes frontline extension activities, special training programmes, identifies and documents selected farm innovations and converge with ongoing schemes and programs within the mandate of KVK. KVK has developed 50 acres of land as an \u201cInstructional Farm\u201d for imparting skill and knowledge on the principle of \u201cLearning by Doing\u201d and \u201cSeeing is believing\u201d.\u00a0 In this farm, there is rain water harvesting unit, crop cafeteria, orchard, poly house, nursery, silvi pasture, Agri-horti system, fodder cafeteria,\u00a0 hydrophonics unit, goatry unit, dairy unit, poultry unit, vermicompost unit, tailoring unit, nutri-garden, terrace garden, kitchen garden and seed production farm.\u00a0 It has also implemented laser land levelling technology in 7 acres of land and organic farming technology in 4 acres.\u00a0 There is well equipped Soil and Water Testing Laboratory with Automatic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS) for analyzing major and micro nutrients to serve the farming community. It also has agriculture museum wherein the technologies released by the university of agricultural sciences have been displayed. Apart from this, there is also a well furnished training hall with all necessary audio-visual aids facility.<\/p>\n<p>Major achievements of KVK Vijayapura are wider row spacing in Bajra and Sunflower. Bacterial blight management in Pomegranate. TS-3R variety in Redgram,\u00a0 JG-11 variety in chickpea, Single eye bud planting method in sugarcane (SSI), Onion \u2013 <em>Rabi <\/em>Jowar relay cropping system, ICM in Irrigated Wheat (UAS-304), compartment bunding in black soils, introduction of new perennial fodder crop hybrid napier Co-5, promotion of vermicompost production, skill development trainings for rural youth, special trainings, value addition, soil and water testing laboratory.
